Oh, you, Point Pinos Light. How many times have I gone to visit you to take your picture only to have the wind blowing at 90mph so that I couldn't keep the camera still or to have the fog blot you out completely or to have the cold dampness seap so deeply into my bones that, even without any wind, I cannot keep the camera steady for the shivering?
Too many.
Nonetheless, I persevere.*
* Not surprisingly, perseverance is like my number 3 value according to the VIA Institute on Character.
Photographic print, July 30, 1969
