New Point Plot Incoming?
I just got caught up with the new OK KO episodes (GO WATCH THEY’RE REALLY GOOD ALSO SPOILERS) one of which was called Point tp the Plaza. Where, absolutely not hinted by the title, POINT comes to the plaza.
It was really different from the POINT we saw in the flashbacks in Season 1, though. There, it was a concentrated team of six heroes (well, three heroes and three “junior heroes”.) Here, it was an army. Foxtail, one of the original heroes, wore an army commander suit.
Couple that with the huge headquarters we see briefly in Villain’s Night Out and all the fuss about POINT Prep Academy in You Have to Care, we can assume that POINT has changed a lot since the “sandwich incident”. It’s become a big and well-known organization. However, it might be falling into one of the pitfalls of such organizations. It lacks the passion and down-to-earthiness of the original small team. Elodie joined POINT Prep to be famous and popular, not to be a hero. Chip Damage is adored by all, and literally lost track of the battle because he was signing autographs.
Now Gar in this episode is really interesting, because you’d think he’d be happy to see his old POINT teammate. But he’s not. He’s really, really mad that POINT is there. (His voice acting was really good here. Sheesh.) And by the way Foxtail shared the sentiment. So it wasn’t just Gar being upset about the giant monster swallowing his store, or wanting to save the store himself. Also, Foxtail calls him Gar. Not El-bow, his POINT name. Gar. She’s acknowledging the fact that he’s no longer part of POINT. So obviously something happened between him and POINT after the sandwich incident. Maybe it was the aftermath of the sandwich incident, which he was mainly responsible for. It caused the loss of Laserblast and might have been what caused Silverspark to quit.
But then again, she might have never left.
At the end of Let’s Take a Moment, we see Carol slip away to speak to someone on a secret earpiece, letting them know that everything was under control. She has commonly been suspected to secretly still be part of POINT, keeping a secret watch on the plaza.
But maybe she was keeping a secret watch on Mr. Gar. After his encounter with Foxtail, maybe they needed an eye on him. Maybe they consider him a possible threat.
And Mr. Gar and Carol are dating, so that obviously won’t end well.
My guess is that news will come to Gar around the same time Enid takes up Chip Damage’s offer and heads off to POINT Prep Academy (since she seems to be really into it). KO is really into POINT just like everyone else in the plaza, so Mr. Gar will probably feel really alone and betrayed.
But what will probably happen is Enid won’t take to POINT Prep, especially since it seems more suited to Elodie type people. But honestly, Enid is probably what POINT needs to get back to more like what they used to be but on a larger scale. I doubt she’ll leave the bodega for good, though.
(Also, in another episode from this group, Red Action to the Future, Enid grappled with feelings like being left behind and overlooked, and she turned out to be the saving grace of the future Hue Troop, because of her raw power instead of their plasma. It has a similar theme.)
So what do you guys think? Tell me! :D
POINT Prep are the champions!
