it occurs to me during this rewatch that like. even by, what, the second episode? sam has a point that if they stop looking for their dad theyre never going to find him, and dean has a point that they oughta help people when they can. i think one of the reasons the fandom gets so divisive is because its hard to admit that theyre both right. but thats the thing is as terrible as some of the writing is, god damn did they write some compelling characters and a ton of greyness to their decisions. there is no complete right and wrong good and bad.
