the life of a dancer
honestly, sometimes, when I'm breaking in new pointe shoes I casually put them on and walk around my house hitting my toes on furniture
What pointe shoes do you wear?
My most recent pointe shoes were Suffolk Spotlights, size 4 1/2 XN!
I really love how they feel on my feet right out of the box. The negative to them feeling great immediately is that the shank dies rather quickly, but jet glue has helped prolong their lifespan for me.
Ballet talk time. Read if you want to...
I have rehearsal tomorrow and I really hope it goes better then it did last Saturday. One of my pointe shoes died on Monday so I can only wear them a couple more times before the other one dies. The perks of being a ballerina...
Different but with the same passion
Not bad at all for 8 hours on pointe
I've been developing a pretty bad bruise on my left big toenail that has made the last few weekends of rehearsals really painful. After talking with another more experienced girl and my teacher I decided to try gluing a few parts of my pointe shoes, mostly the shank area. I'm glad to report that it seemed to help a lot today in rehearsal. I might need to look into going with harder shanks from now on... Also, if you've read my whole blog you will know that I love it when it is foggy outside and today it was super foggy ALL DAY long!
Just watched Black Swan...
Pointe shoes: yooooo
Emotional trauma: nooooo
