Little Feet Crossing The Thresholds #Mumbaislums, some say place of despair, unfit of human habitation, far worse than villages. During my journey in the #Poisar Gaon Devi Slum area I got to know about another scene of Hope, Progress and Dignity.Yes, these slums are dirty, but they are also entrepreneurial hubs where poors of India are climbing up the ladder of opportunity and income. The census report shows that 16.7% of slum households are factories, shops and offices. These are boomming commercial centres, not dead-ends. They are creating slumdog millionaires aplenty. They should be object of envy, not object of pity. These slums are the entry point to the people from villages, land is affordable by the middle class let alone the poor here in Mumbai . The Unsanitary condition, cramped places, drug hubs couldn't stop the dreams of people. They do whatever they can do to earn and no work is small for them. From putting beads to buttons, folding the boxes, making clutchers, making papads every household is doing something to earn more to live in this city. They are the people of dignity, they are in the most expensive city of India still they are surviving and some of them earn more than many people of India. The family I lived with was an owner of a bike showroom. The owner only said one thing to me " Main Samundar ka Admi Hu, Samundar se kamaya hai aur Samundar mein hi Mil jaunga". This down to earth attitude can be seen only in the slums of India where everyone is welcome to start their living and earning. These are the masters and they can thrive in any condition. #humansofmumbai #mumbaidiaries #slums (at Poisar Bmc School) https://www.instagram.com/p/BrPLPvLgx1P_8IyQrOLncUgGZ4DtpPZKlakrMM0/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=xcimsz64dr6v
