Someone I know recommended I start thinking about becoming a protege and I was wondering what you looked for in a student-peer relationship? I have a general idea, but I want more opinions before I know for sure.

I am so glad that you are giving this such consideration. The protege-peer relationship is an important one, and should be given some serious reflection! All relationships are different, because people want different things or have different ideas of how to achieve their goals. I would suggest, rather than only looking for a list of criteria, that you consider asking yourself some questions.

What is my goal?

Can this peer help me to achieve it?

How do I want to achieve my goal?

Can this peer assist me in that way?

What do I want from this relationship?

Can this peer provide me with that?

Is this someone I want representing me?

Is this someone I want to represent?
