i too am a netbop apologist but am i wrong to be so absolutely horrified and annoyed by that "you and black and you are male" bit from the white lady flirting with jet because it makes me see red like an ape going on a violent rampage
no it's pretty fucking terrible. like i understand that it's possible that woodcock's supposed to be some caricature of a sleazy old white woman who predates black men, but if she's not then ??? they decided to include this uncomfortable fetishising comment in there for no reason. i do genuinely dislike the scenes woodcock appears in just cus of the way she talks to jet, but maybe that's intentional, maybe you're supposed to disdain her. i just think it's all especially fucking questionable when jet is the only character who this kind of thing happens to--not that it should happen to anyone else, it's just very, very noticeable how they decided to handle jet in comparison to everyone else. it sucks
