They do!
Slash and Grant often battle against each other, they were brought together by Vyle. Vyle keeps them around to battle others whoever comes into their hideout.
Grant always beats Slash in the battles, but Slash likes to pick battles with him randomly just because he finds it really fun and silly.
Why is Slash the only one with a shiny?
You can blame his Chara for that!
After the soul accident that caused Slash's pokemon to turn from Lapras to a Doublade. Chara of that world had a shiny and after it changed it caused Doublade to be a shiny as well :)
He is VERY pleased about it.
