The bond between Pokémon and Trainer, when nurtured over time, blossoms into a truly beautiful treasure.
Even with rocky beginnings, through highs and lows, Pokémon and Trainer become inseparable partners who together can overcome anything, no matter how seemingly insurmountable it may be.
So, today is the day that Satogou Week 2025 starts - Well, it might already be December 2nd for some of you, but never mind that!
However, I don't think it would be a good idea for me to make brand new prompts for this year. Last year I left it up to a poll, but even though it was decided that I'd make new ones, few people contributed.
So, this year, why don't we look back on Satogou Weeks past and work on some of the prompts that didn't get anything made for them? It'll probably be easier for everyone! And to make things extra convenient, I'm also officially extending the duration from a week to the entire month! (Considering I DID announce this pretty late...)
I'll list off all the prompts from the last two years, crossing out the ones that haven't been filled out yet (but hey, if you still want to make something for them this year, goh ahead!)
As always, we accept drawings, picture collages, fanfics, tribute videos, and anything else that reminds us of the boys! While you don't HAVE to follow the prompts, it's appreciated, I did work on hard on coming up with them after all! But whatever you make, remember to tag it with #SatogouMonth2025 and we'll reblog it here!
(Prompts in the rest of the post)
2023 Prompts:
Day 1) Letter / "more than kisses, letters mingle souls."
Day 2) Ghost / "The ghosts you chase, you never catch."
Day 3) Rainbow / "the greater your storm, the brighter your rainbow."
Day 4) Birthday / "Count your age by friends, not years. Count your life by smiles, not tears."
Day 5) Double date / "Here's to love and friendship, all on one date night."
Day 6) Christmas / "The glitter and glow bring the memories of long ago."
Day 7) Paldea / "There is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon."
2024 Prompts:
Day 1) Motion / "I can calculate the motion of heavenly bodies, but not the madness of people."
Day 2) Honor / "I promise to honor and respect you. To love you for who you are and the way you are."
Day 3) Rivals / "No rival will steal away my sure love; that glory will be my gray hair."
Day 4) Puzzle / "Pieces of a puzzle can be repositioned and moved, replaced and swapped out, but the puzzle will never be whole again."
Day 5) Disaster / "Dread of disaster makes everybody act in the very way that increases the disaster."
Day 6) Grief / "What is grief, if not love persevering?"
Day 7) Eternity / "We are two odd, lonely children, reaching for eternity."
Just a reminder, don't feel pressured to make something for every single prompt, it's okay to pick whichever one inspires you most! I don't want people to get burned out like me. Let's have some fun celebrating the early Christmas gift that this show gave us in the form of Ash and Goh's beautiful relationship!
as much as i do not miss the beginnings of the pandemic. FUCK do i wanna go back to my initial pokemon journeys hyperfixation. i met a whole bunch of awesome people on discord who were also interested in it, and i would talk to them every day...it was the first time i legitimately had like. a friend group. and it was legitimately the happiest i've ever been. especially considering the shit i was going through immediately prior to that. the pandemic took a massive toll on my mental health, and the gen 8 anime literally saved my life. i know it's far from the ideal that most people had in mind for the pokemon anime, but god DAMN was it my LIFEBLOOD. i wish i could send fan mail to somebody who worked on it just so i can tell them a fraction of what it meant to me. the criticism it got was really harsh most of the time, and i just wish they knew how important it was to me and my friends. that discord server is practically dead now. i just wish i could share that joy with them again. just for a day. just one more conversation with them, with the same vibe we always had.
like. the gen 8 anime was one of my biggest motivators when i decided i wanted to go into visual storytelling. it literally changed the course of my life for the better. i'm not even kidding. GOD I JUST WISH I COULD TELL SOMEBODY WHO WORKED ON IT THAT THEY CONTRIBUTED TO THE THING THAT LITERALLY SAVED ME
anyway

here are some snippets from the final journeys ep bc i cried and want to be emotional here
the lugia scene was so nostalgic bc it brought us back to the start of journeys which was 3 years ago??? WHAT???
this was such a sweet scene which brought friends and families together and it was touching
the lighting never really changed, huh? tb to when satoshi and gou were fighting for the top bunk bed and gengar dumping apples
can't believe they're closing their chapter as fellow researchers for prof sakuragi...they had a lot of fun research moments
the looks on their faces paint a bittersweet parting from each other...but they want to end it with a smile
the trio pursuing their ambitions in a beautiful world of dreams
such a beautiful ending to this journey. the flowers were also identified as morning glory, and the japanese meaning of such flower means love... subtly canon :')
journeys was such a fun arc in the anipoke series. to think that satoshi and gou would get this far and bring their stories as main characters to a close... (well satoshi has 11 eps left to give proper closure but journeys is his last long-running arc)
i really enjoyed this arc and satogou so much, and i wish nothing but the best for them. after all, the future lies in their hands.
