Soup’s PokéMonday 7/27

Wassup, I’m Soup and welcome to my PokéBlog! Today is PokéMonday, nothing special today, just ripping a pack before I go to work (and posting this whenever I get a second).

Now, let’s see what the pack gods have brought for us this Monday:

At this point y’all already know what PokéMonday is, but in case you’re new (which if you're reading this, you are, since I’m just talking into the void here) then there’s a full description in my intro post, but the gist is that every monday, I open one pack (usually bought in bulk at an earlier date) and share what I pulled with my friends and family (and now, this blog). 

This week, I ripped a Japanese Mega Symphonia pack. The cards I got were Mage Abomasnow ex 018/063 holo, Inteleon 023/063 normal, Snom 024/063 normal, Electrike 031/063 normal, and Abra 036/063 normal. Surprisingly, I didn’t get any duplicates this time, all new cards.

This PokéMonday, I am most excited about the Mega Abomasnow ex, just because it’s the first Japanese ex I’ve pulled myself. I also love the art on the Abra, it’s so cute. My sister likes Snom so the card might be leaving my collection as soon as it joins it (if she asks me for the card).

Picking Up New Packs for PokéMonday & a Peak Behind the Scenes

I recently paid a visit to the Pokémon vending machine at my local mall again, as well as a local card shop, and I picked up the packs for the next bunch of PokéMondays (it should last me until October, but I might go back to the cardshop again before I return for college just so I don’t have to track down packs for PokéMonday while I’m away). From the vending machine I picked up two packs of Chinese Gem Pack Vol. 4, two packs of Chinese Gem Pack Vol. 5, and three packs of Japanese Ninja Spinner. Then from the card shop I picked up some of the newly released English Pitch Black just to rip for fun and four packs of it for PokéMonday.

Here's how I organize/store the packs for PokéMonday:

I take the left-most pack every time. Nice and random but still planned out so I don't have to choose which one I want to rip. The new packs that I picked up got mixed in with the old ones (like the Scarlet & Violet era "fun packs" that I've been ripping in past PokéMonday blogs) .

Soup’s PokéMonday 7/20

Wassup, I’m Soup and welcome to my PokéBlog! Today is PokéMonday, and we’re ripping the newly released Pitch Black. It’s been a while since I’ve ripped a 10 card english pack, so I’m excited for that. I picked the pack up yesterday at one of my local card shops (along with plenty of other packs for future PokéMondays, which I’ll probably write a blog about). This pack cut to the front of the line-up of packs I have set out for future PokéMondays, but the other packs I picked up yesterday were randomized and mixed in with the existing packs for future PokéMondays. Plenty of shiny new things to come!

This week, I ripped a Mega Evolutions Pitch Black pack. The cards I got today were Poltchageist 005/084 normal, Heatran 007/084 reverse holo, Goldeen 013/084 normal, Relicanth 017/084 normal, Litwick 036/084 normal, Drilbur 046/084 reverse holo, Vullaby 049/084 normal, Chi-Yu 059/084 holo, Bronzong 064/084 normal, and Backtrack Badge 074/084 normal.

I got 4 duplicates (I ripped pitch black yesterday, blog coming soon) and the new cards I got were: Heatran, Chi-Yu, Backtrack Badge, Litwick, Relicanth, and Poltchageist.

This PokéMonday, I am most excited about Chi-Yu, it's a beautiful card. I'm also excited about Poltchageist, I like the colors of the card. Here's a close up of those:

Soup’s PokéMonday 7/13

Now, let’s see what the pack gods have brought for us this Monday:

This week, I ripped a Scarlet & Violet Destined Rivals “fun pack”. The cards I got were Ponyta 029/182 normal, Marnie’s Scraggy 132/182 normal, and Zerora 078/182 reverse holo. Didn’t get any duplicates this time around, that’s a success to me!

What’s PokéMonday (Pokémon Monday)? Well, it’s my way of engaging the hobby without constantly spending my money on ripping new packs. There’s a full description in my intro post, but the gist is that every monday, I open one pack (usually bought in bulk at an earlier date) and share what I pulled with my friends and family (and now, this blog).

This PokéMonday, I am most excited about Marnie’s Scraggy because I have been meaning to figure out master setting Team Yell and Marnie (plus their teams).

Soup’s PokéMonday 7/6

Wassup, I’m Soup and welcome to my PokéBlog! Today is PokéMonday and we are home, sweet, home, back to ripping packs on the faux wood desk you all know and love. Feels like I just made a PokéMonday blog… it’s almost like I only got around to making last week’s a few days ago… lol.

Now, let’s see what the pack gods have brought for us this Monday:

This week, I ripped a Scarlet & Violet Journey Together “Fun Pack”. The cards I got were Swinub 077/159 normal, Tropius 123/159 normal, and Hop’s Choice Band 148/159 reverse holo. The reverse holo was a new variant for my collection. The Swinub and Tropius are coincidentally the 4th duplicate of their respective cards in my collection.

Soup’s (Late) PokéMonday 6/9 — Vacation Edition (I'm Lazy)

Wassup, I’m Soup and welcome to my PokéBlog! Today is was PokéMonday, and this week’s pack rip is pretty exciting. I'm on vacation right now (yay maybe a cool background for showing you guys my pulls this week!) and I’m ripping a Japanese pack this time. Note from future Soup: I did this pull on PokéMonday, took the picture that day (with a Strawberry Moon in the background), and have just been too lazy to write this post. In my defense, I'm on vacation.

So without further ado, let’s see what the pack gods have brought for us this Monday:

This week, I ripped a Japanese Mega Symphonia pack. The cards I got were Tangela 001/063 normal, Stufful 055/063 normal, Rescue 026/063 normal, Mystery Garden 063/063 normal, and Chi-Yu 014/063 normal. Every single one of these cards was a new addition to my collection so that's pretty sweet.

This PokéMonday, I am most excited about the Mystery Garden, not because I like stadiums all that much, but just because I don't think we've pulled one on PokéMonday yet (if I remember correctly lol). The Chi-Yu and Eiscue are cool too, I needed them for my Pokédex.

Soup’s PokéMonday 6/22

Wassup, I’m Soup and welcome to my PokéBlog! Today is PokéMonday, and we have a special guest rip this week: my sister will be ripping the pack!

Now, let’s see what the pack gods have brought for us this Monday:

What’s PokéMonday (Pokémon Monday)? Well, it’s my way of engaging the hobby without constantly spending my money on ripping new packs. There’s a full description in my intro post, but the gist is that every monday, I open one pack (usually bought in bulk at an earlier date) and share what I pulled with my friends and family (and now, this blog). 

This week, I let my sister rip the pack. We chose a Scarlet & Violet Journey Together “fun pack”. This is one of the packs I was talking about in my last blog post, where I thought I might have some resealed packs (or since they’re older maybe the glue was weak). Unsure why anyone would reseal a fun pack though, since they only contain commons, uncommons and reverse holos. Anyway, without further ado, the cards my sister pulled were Lillie’s Cutiefly 066/159 (normal), Petilil 006/159, and N’s Klang 104/159 (reverse holo). Surprisingly all 3 were new to my collection, the Petilil was brand new for me from this set but Lillie’s Cutiefly and N’s Klang were new master variants I needed.
