i have another variant of submas in psychonauts: a Hecking Portal opens up in one of their subway lines to near the Motherlobe after Ingo gets home with a bunch of sneasels and a zorua. They're upset about it because it forced them to close one of the subway tracks. The Motherlobe is upset about it because they don't want a portal to another world's public transportation system near their landing pad.
Psychonauts x Pokemon Crossover potentials post
OHO of course! How could I forget that simple possibility?
A portal between worlds, appearing without reason. Another mystery opens up for our characters.
How did that get there? When did it open? Is the other place safe? Who are those people beyond this rift? Do they know anything about this? Are they the cause? What trouble would come out of this and can we handle it?
So many questions, not enough answers. There could be plenty of misunderstanding at the start of this, depending on how and when the portal shows up.
It could happen in the middle of the day with many witnesses, or in the middle of the night where early morning workers get very confused on this weird thing that popped up in the middle of our work space. Like, what is that? is that a subway station/brain building? Huh?? The bafflement between both parties are apparent in their faces.
For the Psychonauts, it would be alarming to have this kind of portal just appearing nearby. This is a directly in the middle of a secret organization's private property, at HQ no less! (Hollis feels like she would need another vacation after this, Truman chuckles and tries to reassure her to not have a migraine) If they could do such a thing then they must be very powerful or advanced. ("It better not be one of Agent Mentallis' Experiments" someone mutters in speculation)
Anyway, Better keep an eye on it as we dispatch agents to investigate. Hey, now those animals look very weird now don't they? Even weirder than the ones hanging out in psitanium deposits...
Meanwhile our subway workers are very concerned about this portal. It has been a few months since Subway Boss Ingo returned and now there is another passage to another place in the subway. Something is up with this area if this keeps happening. It is disrupting our schedule!!
"Stay behind the yellow line" - they caution as they block off the path from citizens, very wary of another incident happening. At the very least, this one can be seen clearly and didn't snatch someone up in an instant. They cancel battles until this is resolved or contained enough not to be a danger to the rest of the subway. The Depot Agents work hard to keep on schedule despite this derailment.
The Subway Bosses keep an eye on the portal, but an even keener eye on passengers that attempt to pass the line -- they are a few curious ones you see, eager to face new destinations without regard for their own safety. Some pokemon are curious too,
The League and the rest of the city keeps an eye out in case another one of these open up. Doesn't seem to be like it so far, so it is a bit more different than what Ingo has seen in Hisui. Emmet goes to have a quick call those Interpol Agents because this is Not part of their conduct.
It would be nice to ask people who specializing in this sort of thing, maybe even ask some Legendaries and see if they did these or could help fix it.
Oh the interaction between parties would be so interesting. The large variety of characters in psychonauts that could possibly look into the portal meeting with two very dedicated train conductors with strange animals with them would be entertaining to think of...
subnauts AU in the "the two universe meet" thing: imagine milla and the submas brothers interacting. if this is post pla, psychonauts could probably help with any lingering amnesia of ingo's! also unrelatedly pokemon has its own journey to the center of the mind mechanics and probably its own psychic and or aura based mental healing and i imagine both worlds mental healing power methods would work in the other so thats probably going to result in at least one confusing convo
Oooo yes Milla and Submas brothers interactions! Once the initial confusion wether the other party is trouble of not, I think they'd get along swimmingly!
I think she'd admire their dedication and enthusiasm to their work and how they try their best to keep their passengers safe. They are also quite popular figures in Nimbasa, and have their own adrenaline inducing work they are passionate about. Milla is just about the same! and ofcourse she has her own style of helping and reassuring people when not in that superaction spywork from the comics.
Ah man, think about the brothers and pokemon breeding, specifically that fun fun trope of Emmet taking care of a bajillion joltiks and Ingo with Hisuian sneasels.
And yes! I definitely had post-pla subnauts ideas in version 3 of this post. One of the scenarios would be Ingo returning to his home and reunited with his loved ones, albeit still having Amnesia and being on the road to recovery. There is still the question to ask for us what kind of amnesia it is... be it head trauma, ultra wormhole, accidental divine fuckery or something else.
The mechanics between both worlds sure are different! One has humans with psychics powers and the other animal-like creatures with their own special powers! It's like having a different computer coding or a language barrier yet having similar gestures with the same meaning.
So of course there could be enough similarities that the psychic tricks from psychonauts world would be able to help out pokemon residents. It'd be fascinating to see the difference in structure between a psychonauts brain vs pokemon brain, be it in its build or just overall culture clash.
It'd also be interesting how psychic pokemon and other mental pokemon interact with human psychic powers. Imagine the difference of how they perceive these constructs of the mind.
Maybe in this way, the combined effort of both would be able to understand each other more and work together to solve problems as partners. Two different instruments learning how to harmonize with each others tunes.
Do you think Psychonauts Zoolepathy would work with pokemon?
I like to think they would
honestly i just like the mental image of raz gleefully trying to wrestle a confused but also gleeful archeops or something, treating it like playfighting with a sibling, while the trainer is like "yeah this might as well happen"
I imagine it can be common for strangers to ask if they can pet their pokemon, but it is quite something when a stranger from a world without pokemon attempts to wrestle them instead.
Sure there are trainers that do that same with their own pokemon, but that comes with the bond that has been formed between each other. Really, this kid got spirit if he does this so soon
Ah, I can only imagine their befuddlement seeing Raz pick up one of the heavier pokemon...
Thinking about many versions for Subnauts (Psychonauts x Pokemon Continuty with the Subway Bosses Ingo & Emmet)
Spoilers more for Pokemon Legends: Arceus than Psychonauts games. Do be warned if you are a Submas fan with no knowledge of psychonauts if you would follow on other post for these variants.
1. venusianpeach subnauts version where the twins get to be agents. They get their own missions but have the chance to be mentors post-pn2. They have fun Duo-Mindscapes! Another track leads to a station that at some point Ingo gets eeby-deebied to RoR instead of the past. Not sure if it is connected or will be connected with the version with mentor thing OP has, but hey here we get to see the whimsy and angst tone that both games have aha
2. AU where we take pokemon characters and fit them into the Psychonauts setting. That’s what #1 is but here I’m thinking of like, they are not necessarily connected with the Psychonauts Organization. More of like if they were in this world, what would their job be like?
(Of course there is like a mix of 1 & 2. mostly my interpretation of submas in this would be that they are informant/stationed at new york city equivalent at those times. Each train station is a safe place spies could get info or supplies from. Also twins being positive image for psychics working for the safety and transportation for the public that are not necessarily spies)
3. Actual AU where it is a merge of Pokemon setting with Psychonauts world. Pokemon and Psychics exists. A totally new world really... Theres the struggle of accepting pokemon, and then there is the struggle of accepting psychics. Both have the potential to be so helpful but also so harmful.
4. Crossover where Ingo gets transported from the Pokemon World to Psychonauts world. Again, I’ve thought of two version of this:
First is that Ingo gets transported there instead of hisui, and somehow PLA events happen there kinda? PLA MC sure do be seeking something while also fixing dimension rifts along with other characters that are more willing to help in this kind of situation huh....
Second is that somehow in an attempt to go to the right time and place with the help of the PLA MC, something goes wrong (I imagine it to be some sort of distortion world interferance) and it sends both of them across another dimension without pokemon but with psychics. This is a whole set of problems as there doesn’t seem to be a way to connect with Arceus to rescue them. Another home lost, lost in another place....
5. waywardstation & co ’s Train of Thought AU [chrono]. Not an Psychonauts x Submas crossover but it is mindscape Shenanigans! Set in Pokemon Legends: Arceus setting only. Just wanted to share if you happen to be interested in both fandoms.
6. Other potentials
Commonality with all of these is that characters must be shaped and infest our brain with house much we love them. Oh and that seemingly lighthearted tone only to be ambushed with the dark and angst potential behind it. Humans on both worlds are built different and yet we take them on with our knowledge of living in glee and suffering.
Hmmm, So who here is interested in both Psychonauts and Pokemon Legends: Arceus
For the worlds meet pokenauts, In dppt lore, pokemon appear to ppl they would like as their trainer, so besides the guaranteed psychic-types attracted to the psychonauts (and sasha has many inquiries on how THAT type was assigned when ‘pyrokinesis and cryokinesis are just ways you can use psi powers’-he’s been at it for hours don’t even let him KNOW about the ghost-type) I think Raz def would get jumped by a friendship based evo pokemon bc they just Know. Water-types keep appearing even when he tries to explain he’s still learning how to swim and overcoming his aquaphobia. It goes both ways any pokemon with a slight Troubled entry has Raz on the initiative, even if the psi-portal probably wouldnt work on dark-types. Lili has an Aggron immediately follow her around too I think they deserve each other. Also I totally think legendaries also adopt Raz, there’s a certain psychic/flying type associated with water who would be particularly attached to that boy
Very fun ideas right here
Much much science to be interviewed and research between the intellectuals, and of course friendship and other such bonding between cool new critters that are also anatomically weird (eyes psychonauts animal designs)
I haven't actually read much on pokemon behaviour and their lore in the pokedex at all but it is definitely fun to see what kind of pokemon our dear characters would attract.
See what these funny lookin colorful humans with their own moves/powers and occasionally dark lore behind cartoony designs...
