Hey, no one asked for this but I’m going to tell you anyway.
I went to pride because, despite the whole corporate sell out thing, I like having that time to build a stronger sense of community. Anyway, I put together a first aid back pack that looked like this...
From the outside. Water is crossed out because that’s what went first. I packed it like this...
And this is the contents of the bag.
Tampons/pads, water, bandaids, ibuprofen, sunscreen, a sharpie, neosporin, narcan overdose kit, steril gauze, granola bars, gauze wrap, witch hazel (I picked it up thinking it was isopropyl, and I rolled with it)
Pride is a relatively low risk environment, so a lot of this seems like overkill, because it is. But it was really fucking hot so the water and sunscreen were used.
Next time I will definitely pack more water and also add a couple things to the pack. Namely; ear plugs, cold compresses, and duct tape. Also, I think for more intense situations like protests and demonstrations I will add rags and face masks.
I would describe myself as approachable but I’m not sure how to make it more comfortable for people to approach me???
