Ok there are lots. Like lots. Especially with Cat’s ex’s and especially if you include side plots.  If you want I can do an even more complete list later? But off the top of my head here are a couple were the ex plays a pretty significant role (also check out the fake dating recs here. There are several instigated by the ex):

 Who are you waiting for by @inanimate-adventures. Cat’s ex is her soulmate. Kara is insecure. I’m a huge sucker for soulmate fic but I’m also a huge sucker for fic that circumvent it in some way and this is lovely.

Reservations by @musetotheworld. Cat’s ex shows up wanting to reconnect. Kara isn’t having it. Jealous Kara is adorable.

The one that stayed by @supercitycarnival this is a rare look at Cat’s previous relationships and then her relationship with Kara. Really well written and one of the few that doesn’t automatically make the ex and asshole (though I also love asshole ex stories ;)

Fake the faking so they don’t know you’re faking by astradanvers (are they one tumblr?) On the other side we have Cat’s ex is the biggest asshole on the planet. No seriously.

Reminders of the Past by enchantedapril (tumblr?) This time Kara’s ex is an asshole. Also for me he’s more disturbing than the last ex because this is your everyday/ you’ve met this guy asshole.

High School Never Ends by @kara-lesbihonest Kara goes to Cat’s high school reunion and claims to be dating Cat in front of her ex. Obviously they need to sell it. 

Vegas, Please by @bridgetteirish They’re not quite Kara’s exes. It’s a bit more what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas but it’s a lovely fic where the exes aren’t jerks.

Red Tornado:  When Kara was allowed to be angry

Any Danvers Sisters Moment.  Especially when Alex helps Kara believe she can save the day.

And then there’s the Beautiful Space Family.  Even when their hearts are broken.

There was the time Barry remembered he was outnumbered

And of course the dozens of times Cat Grant helped Supergirl and Kara Danvers believe in herself

There’s a hundred more.  But I have to go write now.

Thanks for the reminder of everything I truly loved about this show once.

I believe maybe someday we can get back there.

Pretty much any time Cat opens her mouth tbh, or when the sisters do their thing. I’m loving the Supergirl s1 Appreciation graphics though, they’re highlighting so many great moments!

Favorite Supercat stories with secret/hidden relationship/engagement/marriage

Oooo Nice one.

Here are some favs:

Learning Curves by @writerstealth. This one sort of meets the criteria in that there’s a whole lot of sex that is definitely meant to be a secret. Relationship ish. Twisted but very hot. And I’m incapable of doing a rec list without one really smutty option :P I also really love the sequel.

A frequent visitor by @fictorium / @damelola because it’s basically sacrilege  for me to have a rec list an not include Lola. This one is also more sex in secret but I’m counting it.

Afternoon Delight by @jbthegift I just really love this fic ok guys? I’ll rec it as many times as I want to :P This is a Alex finds out about the secret relationship fic. I have a huge thing for people finding out about Cat and Kara by walking in on them.

Secretly by @lost-your-memory. This is the only one I know of that has a secret marriage. Also a side of “Alex finds out” which is a favorite theme of mine.

Everyone is Secretly Dating and It’s a mess by @supercatandfriends. Exactly what it says on the tin. Also hilarious.

Secret Relationship AUs by traveler_of_the_heart. A bunch of one shots. All fantastic.

You know that story I have an idea of working on about Kara's love of music. Well I just came up with a plot point. Kara loves to listen to Van Halen, which surprises Cat and even Alex sometimes

I think Kara has very eclectic taste in music.

We know from canon that she likes N-Sync, but I think she she’s got a secret penchant for classic rock.  (all the better to play air guitar)

She gets it from Eliza, who spent a year after high school as a roadie for a regional touring hair band after high school and before starting college.

Of course Cat and Alex are surprised.  Nobody would expect Sunny Danvers to like power ballads!

And imagine Kara and Carter bonding over her teaching him how to play. This also reveals that Kara likes to play 70s hard rock

Yes! And one night, Cat comes home exhausted from work to Kara and Carter practicing on their respective guitars and upon seeing Cat, Kara winks and whispers “1-2-3-4″ and they simultaneously launch into “Cat Scratch Fever.”

Cat rolls her eyes, points to his room and just says “homework, cheeky.”  Carter grins and runs off.  Then she turns to Kara and says, with a twinkle in her eye.  “You’re on thin ice too, Supergirl.  Too bad I can’t banish you to homework.”

And THEN, imagine Kara teaching CAT to play.  She sits behind her on a piano bench, gently placing her fingers on the frets and letting her strum, teaching her cord by cord.  Her breath ruffles the hair at Cat’s temple and it tickles just a little.

And after a week or so of constant practice, because Cat plays when she can’t sleep, she has painful calluses on her fingertips from plucking the steel strings.  So Kara kisses each one and rubs hand lotion into all of Cat’s fingers.

Imagine if Kara learns how to play the guitar to help her with regulating her strength. And once she gets the hang of it, she decides to teach her self as many songs as she can. And when Cat finds out, let's just say Kara is glad with how dexterous her fingers are lol (that sounded wayyy to dirty compared to the things I normal say)

Musical Kara is my absolute favorite headcanon.  And throwing in that she does it to help control her powers?  I love that.
