XI - Justice

Here's Poleax the Zorokit as the eleventh (sometimes eighth) major arcana, Justice! Justice is a card of vengeance, of getting even, and who better to embody that than someone whose motive is to exact (admittedly misguided) vengeance? Justice is blind, and so is Poleax... halfway.

Poleax was once a student of Alopex's, but during a time-travel field trip, Poleax was suddenly flung across time and space, and without the influence of Alopex's time machine nearby stabilizing him, he was unable to control where or when he landed. Unbeknownst to both of them, Poleax was allergic to time travel, and the act of time traveling with Alopex set off his allergy.

From Alopex's perspective, Poleax was undetectable by the time machine's sensors, and Alopex thought his student had perished. Imagine his surprise, then, when Poleax returned to class two days later, brandishing an axe as long as he was tall, missing his right eye, and with a far more spiteful disposition.

From Poleax's perspective, in his time careening across time, he saw empires rise and fall in the blink of an eye. He saw the birth of stars and the death of stars. He has seen it all, up to and including every detail of the demise of himself and everyone he once held dear.

During one of his involuntary leaps through time, he encountered the cursed poleax, Soulrender. It plagued his mind with thoughts of hate and vengeance, of getting even with the teacher who, for all he knew, left him for dead. Poleax cobbled together a time machine of his own, a simple wristwatch, and began his journey back to the present day, with his watch suppressing his condition and stabilizing his time travel.

During his journey home, Poleax became involved in a scuffle that resulted in the loss of his right eye, and the adoption of his now signature eyepatch.

As for Soulrender, its dark power allows it to sever its victim's connection to time itself. Thus, if Poleax attacks you with it, not only are you dead, but you never existed to begin with.

Quick tidbit of lore about Poleax:

His axe, Soulrender, can sever your very connection to time itself. If he kills you with it, not only are you dead, but you never existed to begin with.

Being corrupted by the axe is also what made Poleax turn evil.
