Christine, As a Politics and Governance Student
Being a Politics and Governance Student is not that hard yet not that easy. Especially if your teacher is Ms. Ong. But I'm not saying it's a bad thing. I actually like how Ms. Ong uses Socratic method in teaching but to be honest I also find it hard. I find it hard not just because I didn't study but there are topics that I really cannot understand even though I make a research and also because I'm really bad at reciting. When Ms. Ong enters the room and starts to shuffle the deck of index cards which holds our fate, I can feel my anxiety and the tension that my classmates also feel. The ambience in the room becomes silent as if we're waiting for our death. What a relief if the chosen index card wasn't yours. But it's also disappointing if you weren't called on the topic that you like and is interested. If I have a heart disease I would have a heart attack and collapsed the moment Ms. Ong called my name. So far, I was only called twice and at both times I was on deck. If I wasn't on deck, I don't know what would I say. For me, it's better to be on deck because you will just discuss a recap and a little bit of the new lessons. Also you will have time to study and be prepared for the next meeting. To be honest, I really don't like this subject. Even though wayback highschool and elementary, I don't like this topic in Araling Panlipunan. I just find it hard and uninteresting. I'm actually undecided about the strand and course I'm taking. Sorry for my ignorance but I have no idea what's in the HUMSS strand and I didn't know POLGOV is a major subject. This is one factor why I always breakdown because of this subject. Nevertheless, I have learned a lot from this subject and from Miss Ong. I learned that watching news and being updated in the world specially in our country is really important. We, specially the teenagers, must be aware in the social issues and what's happening in the government because as what Dr. Jose Rizal have said "kabataan ang pagasa ng bayan". If we know the history, we can avoid it because history doesn't repeats itself but what's repeating is the mistake and ignorance of Filipinos.
