I'm sorry, I just love Cop! Tom. Maybe one where he's at the station and someone tells him that they got a call about a bad hit and run and the victim is his wife. I love your angst stories btw! But it's totally ok if you don't wanna write this one.
It’s a blurb weekend!
“Hey, darling.” You look towards the door, having to crane your neck to see your husband dressed in his police uniform, badge clipped to his front and navy blue shirt pocking out of his vest. He notices you wince as you crane your neck. “Hey, don’t hurt yourself.”
“Tom.” You breathe a sigh of relief, finally seeing someone that you know. Your voice was hoarse and scratchy and it felt like with every word, claws were leaving permanent scars down your throat.
“I’m sorry.” He steps into the room, taking careful steps as you stir gently in the bed. The monsters surrounding you beep at a steady pace signifying the fact that yes- you were still alive. “I’m so sorry I wasn’t there, and that I wasn’t here sooner and I-”
“Tom, please.” You stop him, tears resting in your eyes, ultimately falling down the side of your face as you lay on your back. “Please, it wasn’t your fault.”
He sighs, taking a seat on the chair that was provided next to your bed and takes your hand carefully. He doesn’t squeeze it but just rests his hand on top of yours. You swallow thickly as he looks at you with glassy eyes, police belt rustling as he relaxes.
Tom eyes the many cuts and bruises that littered your face and the injuries that continued to further adorn your body. “I see this every day but when it’s you… god.”
“It hurts.” You stumble, allowing a choked sob to spill from the back of your aching throat. Black and blue bruises lined your arms but you were so lucky- you’d been told a magnitude of times already.
“I know- I know it does.” Tom comforts, thumb gently running circles over your palm. “It’s going to go away soon, I promise.”
“I can’t forget- I don’t how it happened.” You tell him, stumbling over your own words as flashes of what had happened came back, reminding you just of the pain on impact that was no better then it was now- despite being reasonably drugged up.
“We have the guy in custody and he’s going to get what he deserves for doing this to you, I’ll make sure of it.” He swore it.
