Influences
Polina Lymar (singer/songwriter): “In our modern world globalization removes borders. It affects music industry by giving the biggest exposure than humanity ever imagined before. All the greatest artists (from the past and the present) are just one click away. For musician it makes very difficult to narrow down the influences. At the same time every artist doesn’t like to be compared, we want to stand out…
From the early childhood I studied piano so it is only natural to get inspired with classical music - Bach, Mozart, Beethoven. At the same time my music tastes were shaped by my dad’s choices – The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple.
Years after I was deeply moved with gothic and symphonic metal bands. It started with bands like Therion and Lacrimosa. I was into gothic scene for a while. At the same time I was fascinated with Muse. Evanescence was on my playlist from the beginning. Amy Lee is a role model of female band leader! But the biggest music eye-opening moment I experienced with symphonic power metal band Nightwish. They put me into symphonic metal, the perfect genre that combines complex orchestrations and heavy metal riffs and drops. It speaks to my soul.
My personal Top-5 bands? I’ll go with Nightwish, Evanescence, Within Temptation, Lacrimosa and Muse. I’m very lucky to hear them all live. It’s very important and emotional experience!”
Apolinara releases the first single “Slowly” on April 12, 2019.
