The last memory she had had before the hot shower had hit her skin and she was surronded by the darkness of the moment she closed her eyes were the tiny arms of her students wrapping around her legs before leaving the room. She felt blessed to say the least that they had reconsidered her, the phone call that would change it all, the chance of working with kids once again watching in their eyes the innocence that hadn’t been ripped yet and she would try her best to keep it lit for as long as she could. Someone who had been her entire life dreaming with her own family, to be a mom, to be a wife, being around those kids and seeing their smile through every dance would make her days better than she could ever expect.
It was a good thing the classes were held at night, after the sun was out and she was able to do what she loved to: teach children. Holding her big bag by the shoulder strap, even if she was strong enough it was an habit to lift it up from her shoulders by making it lighter, Aoife stopped by the sidewalk in front of the building once she saw of the little kids making her way out straight to her mother before she looked back waving her goodbye and with a sincere and silly smile Aoife repeated the act, a little bit jealous of what they had. Her eyes focused on them, her eyes focused on her mother. The vision of them two becoming blurry as someone else would catch her attention. There he was, unbelievable. She could only hope he hadn’t seen her, hiding her smile almost as if she had swallowed it, Aoife turned her back so she could make her way to the apartment. He didn’t see you, she repeated to herself.
