CRITICAL ESSAY #3. JOLLIBEE
My final critical essay will be about one of my guilty pleasures, Jollibee. Jollibee is a well-known Filipino fast food chain that everyone of all ages seem to love. It is an affordable place that would quickly serve you your favorite meals. To simply put it, it is for the Filipinos, by the Filipinos.
Jollibee is known for its best tasting fried chicken and spaghetti. Although it is a fast food chain that aims to cater to the cravings of the Filipinos, we cannot deny that their menu is not totally full of Filipino dishes. They also have Western dishes such as burgers and hotdogs on buns. In assessing this, the Western theories will be utilized. They serve several kinds of burgers that were emulated from the Americans.
In another note, I would also want to inject the theories on culture. Jollibee is considered as a cultural space wherein commodities are consumed, It is a place where birthday parties are held, baptisms being celebrated, cravings are satisfied, and so much more. Filipino culture is apparent in this place since it is reflects the hospitality of Filipinos. Moreover, Jollibee has expanded its branches to several states in America in order to fulfill the Filipino diasporas there.
