The way society has villainized the idea of having romantic/sexual love for multiple people at once is terrible. Monogamous culture is so overarching and controlling. The sheer freedom I felt when I learned that it’s okay to have love for more than one person at a time, and that there wasn’t something wrong with me for having all these feelings. Meeting my partner and finding who I truly am with their help was the best thing that ever happened to me. Polyamory is beautiful and wonderful and freeing. You are not in the wrong for loving more than one person.

You know, I’ll say it again.

I’m in the process of working out the legal things that need to be done before I actually marry my wife.

When talking to my lawyer, I need to closet myself and refer to my wife’s girlfriend, my metamour, as “a friend”. My boyfriend is also “my friend”. Because I don’t know if my lawyer would agree to continue working with me. If he knew that my wife and I were polyam.

Polyamory is queer. Polyam people are queer, Polyam people share our struggles, our fight for recognition and safety. Our fight to be able to love who we love and be with who we want to be with.

Can I just say that exclusionism is hurting us all, and queerness is situational, political and individual. My cishet polyam sister whos living in rural south germany is more discriminated against for being polyam than I, a blue haired nonbinary city queer, am for any part of my identity. Queer is just "different from the norm" and the norm is cishet monogamous couples who only have vanilla sex for reproductive purposes. Literally anything that isn't all of that is almost by definition queer; what you wanna call yourself and which groups you wanna be a part of is fully your own decision but no one else gets to tell you you're not a part of the sexual minorities group when you're actually wanting and needing to be part of the sexual minorities group
