Yuri Nikolaev’s illustration for the tale “Story of Gol Voyansky”.
Nastasia Mikulishna. 1898
She is a polyanitsa - a woman warrior. The youngest daughter of bogatyr Mikula Selyaninovich, also she is the wife of bogatyr Dobrynya Nikitich. She is very strong and tall.
She appears in three bylinas: ‘Dobrynya and Zmei’, ‘Wedding of Dobrynya’ and ‘Ruined wedding of Alyosha Popovich’.
At the first meeting Dobrynya mistaked Nastasia for a man and attacked her. She defeated Dobrynya in battle and put him in her pocket as a trophy. After a while she remembered that she had put somebody there, and decided to marry this man, if she likes him. And if not - she would cut off his head.
This lovely gnome girl is holding a Polyanitsa, a traditional item of Ukrainian cuisine. The design is perfect for embroidering onto anything, from clothes to tablecloths and towels. It would make a wonderful gift for someone who loves Ukrainian culture or is interested in learning more about it. The design is available in four different sizes, so you can choose the one that best suits your needs. Embroidering this design is a great way to show your national pride or simply add a touch of color
я та людина, яка не вміє стрибати для гарного кадру 😢😭 #незож #polyanitsa #carpathians #mountains (at Polyanitsa, Ivano-Frankivs'Ka Oblast', Ukraine)
