NEWS DAYTONAAs a child I always loved Daytona because that was how the stereotypical old beach down. Over tanned old Beach Bums go around, a pier with a boardwalk full of light and exciting, wide beaches and old motels beach. It was like something right from a Jimmy Buffet song. In recent years, even if it seems someone throwing around some money to fix up the place. When I say fix I mean make it more tourist friendly. The old nostalgic Daytona slowly becoming Orlando in the east coast. In recent years there has been no major construction in the main area of Daytona. There have been water parks built, a city built walk, larger hotels are popping up, and much more. The construction is much needed at present. Right now Daytona still has its nostalgic charm. This new design can help keep it that way or can just turn the city of Daytona to a beach side amusement park. All this construction is sure to get more people and higher prices as the years go buy. The newly created tour has a few expensive restaurants, a cinema, and some expensive stores. It looks good, however, and has a walkway across the road from car park to shops and beach access. I personally have never done much here as it was too touristy for me. I like the older part of the Daytona myself. The beaches are wide, and the water is nice. The time of your visit will determine the amount. I like to walk around in early July, on my birthday. The audience is not too large, there is plenty of room on the beach, and hotels are not all booked up. If you come here during race week, Bike Week, spring break, or weekend, it's a completely different story. As an interesting fact is the Daytona one of only two beaches in the state of Florida that you can run on. Actually I think maybe in the entire United States (the other being New Symrna). You will also notice that the sea-facing side of the lights around your hotel pool area is painted black. This is to keep the baby turtles that mistake them for the moon and crawl away from the sea. BO Capri Hotel is a perfect place for a family on vacation or even a group of families on holiday together. The hotel is right on the beach, 5 minute drive to the city, a 10 minute walk to the pier, and it also has a large water slide for kids. There are several styles of rooms to choose from here. One thing that is nice for a family is that you can get a room with full kitchen. The kitchen has a full size refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, and some basic pots and pans. When we go we usually just buy some paper plates and cutlery so that we do not have to worry about cleaning up after us and the food at the end of our stay. Most rooms have full size kitchens, but there are also rooms with a partial kitchen that has only small dormitory-style refrigerator. The kitchens are nice because it can save money by not having to eat out every meal and it will make life easier for you when you try to cook. There is also a small table in the room to eat. One thing that is nice about the hotel is that if you go on vacation with other families, you can get rooms that go together. This is nice because it makes life easier for everyone. You cut the doors slamming and children running back and forth. It may also be possible for a family to get a room with a kitchen and then get a connecting room with one that does not have a kitchen. This way you can save some money. The hotel also has room apartment style rentals across the street and under a different name. It might be nice for families with older children but is not thought of you with smaller children as the road you have to cross to get to the beach and the pool is very busy all day. The real reason this is an ideal hotel to stay if you have children, staff and pools. The staff here is great with kids. They have daily games and activities at the pool for children. They can win prizes and play with other children. There are also two pools, one kidie pool and a nice size image. Children and parents can not help but enjoy a pleasant trip down the 30 foot slide. One thing I was not sure if this was the pet policy. They say that no pets are allowed, but I saw two families there with their dogs, and they said all they did was to call in advance. But even if they let you bring your dog, dogs are not allowed on the beach. WHAT MAKES their season surf fishing throughout the year here. This is a fun and inexpensive way to spend some time outside. The nice thing about surf fishing is that you do not need much gear and what you need is not expensive. All you really need to get started is a medium-weight tackle and some shrimp or mullet for bait. There are plenty of fish caught within miles of miles of sea between the north and south pier. There is a daily fee to fish off the pier but it is usually about three dollars a day. The promenade at the end of the pier contains all kinds of carnival fun. There are two large video arcades filled with flashing lights and cheap prices. There are street musicians nightly during the summer who love to put on a show. You also have some adrenaline-pumping rides as the sky coaster where you can free fall a few stories and then swing out over the beach. There is also a go kart track at the top of the building that lines the promenade. And then of course there is plenty of shopping in all directions. You can not stop at Daytona without checking out Daytona USA. Daytona USA is a larger than life motorsports attraction. This is not a walk through, look at all the beautiful cars kind Museum. Children can play a TV sports announcer and calls at the end of a NASCAR race. They can also jump in a simulator and try it by hand at running a famous stock car. Children and parents will surely be surprised that they see Jeff Gordon's car falls apart before their eyes. You can also get face to face with the high revs at Daytona Speedway. If this is not enough for you so you can sit back and enjoy the wonders of the IMAX Theater and NASCAR movie. Where To Shop You know how, in every major tourist city, there is always a place that everyone comes home with a t-shirt from? Well, the Salty Dog that location in Daytona Beach. As their website puts it, "From the beaches of Daytona Beach to the Internet, is Salty Dog Surf Shop offers the world's most famous t-shirt, direct from the world's most famous beach!" As always, this is one of the landmark stores as locals and tourists can point you towards if you get lost. All you need to do to get there is to the south down the street from the pier a few blocks and you can not miss it. This place has everything, from their famous shirts and surfboards to shoes, sunglasses, and stickers. Everything in the store is well-known brands and mostly overpriced. You can find half of their stuff cheaper at other stores in town, but it is world famous, so they can do it. The employees do not really care about you if they think you are stealing. The store itself is clean and tidy, and it's fun to have a t-shirt from there, but over the shirt, there is no reason to buy something here if you do not want to pay too much for it.
