Spoilers for Chapter 14 of Agony of the Almost- an Owl House fanfic by @polyhexian
I made this comic based off of Polyhexian’s work a while ago, and so now the pencil has gotten a bit smudged :/
Because this comic ended up being a bit long I’m going to be splitting this into a few posts. This the first post. While you’re here: this comic will discuss suicide, murder, abuse, and general grimwalker sad stuff. Proceed with caution.
I actually drew this a long while ago and forgor to post iiiit. I'm bad at uhhh a lot of things apparently. But mostly sharing art and fic here. Also very cropped because I wasn't terribly happy with how the rest was turning out, I may redraw it later but the caution stripe lower arms were chewing on my brain and I Needed To.
From @polyhexian's Loverboy series. Go give it a read!
“Stringbean is a much cuter sad wet cat, though,” Luz added. Stringbean mrrped and twirled, popping out four cat-like legs before her fur suddenly fell flat as if she had just climbed out of a ditch. She made the saddest eyes imaginable.

Many Dialects of Neocybex - 3/3
Ibexan
Ever since the globalization of Cybertron, Ibexan had been widely known as the 'language of arts and culture'. When the unification brought Vosian as the new competitor for that title, however, Ibexan began to lose its former popularity bit by bit.
Still, Ibexan is holding its ground firmly on fashion and sports department to this day. Unless Ibex Cup Tournament and all the paint-and-decal industry in Ibex migrates to somewhere else, even Vosian wouldn't be able to take this away.
One thing about Ibexan is that their words tend to have way more glyphs in them compared to how they are actually pronunced. A single word that is 20-something glyphs long might have less than three syllables when pronounced.
Because of this, Ibexites use abbreviations a lot when they are writing casually. It is almost impossible for non-Ibexans to read Ibexan chat logs without some form of assistance, because they look like a random keyboard mash with several "the"s and "a"s in between.
Navitan
Navitan, or sometimes referred as Navitan-Ibexan, is a variant of Ibexan spoken on Velocitron, specifically on the city of Navitas.
More specifically, only the Velocitron's most privillaged 1% who lives on Navitas speaks this dialect.
Relationship between Navitan and Ibexan is similar to than of Urayan and Camien, but the differenc between the former two isn't as prominent as the latter.
To Ibexites, Navitan sounds more 'classical' and 'posh' due to Navitan retaining some of the old way of pronunciation.
Navitans also use significantly less abbreviations than modern Ibexan.
People who aren't familiar with either dialects will have a hard time if they ever attempted to tell Ibexan apart from Navitan.
It is impossible to tell an Ibexite apart from a Navitan when only their accents are showing(i.e. they are both speaking in Iaconian. Their accents sound exactly the same).
Trihex group
In Cybertronian linguistics, Polyhexian, Altihexian, and Protihexan are often referred together as "the Trihex group".
These three languages sounds completely different from each other, yet they share very similar grammatical structure.
They even share quite a large part of their lexicon with each other. These words may sound completely different in each language, but the way they are written is exactly the same.
People of Trihex group always argue that their dialect is the most """ORIGINAL""" of the three, claiming that their tongue is the 'ancestor' of the other two.
In fact, this is the result of three different proto-dialects undergoing convergent evolution through constantly clashing with each other. No one gives a single flying rotor blades about this though, because they are too busy bickering over whose metaphorical spike is thicker
Both Altihexan and Protihexan has strong Urayan influence, so these two sounds more similar to each other.
Protihexan is the one with simpler vowel pronunciation.
Altihexian sounds significantly more tonal than the other two.
Polyhexian is influenced by Kaonese instead of Urayan like the other two, so it also has strong consonant sounds. It is the esiest one to tell apart.
Despite the different between these three dialects being quite prominent, people from other region somehow fails to tell them apart all the time.
Praxian
Majority of Praxians are assigned as enforcers by the functionist government. Because of this, Praxian accent, and by extension Praxian dialect itself too, gained a rather derogatory nickname of "copspeak".
Unlike most other dialects, Praxian dialect lacks tonality in their pronunciation. This is the reason why people often say that Praxian sounds "boring" or "stiff". It also sounds 'heavier' than most other dialects.
Deilvering a speech in Praxian is like gambling. If the speaker has enough charisma, then the speech will leave heavy impression on people so that the message will be taken more seriously than what it's actually about. In the opposite case, the speech will sound like droning and half of the audiences will fall asleep because of that.
They say that Praxians never joke. They do have jokes in Praxis too, It's just that they sound less hilarious because how the dialect generally sounds like. No wonder why stand-up comedy didn't get to develop as a genre in this part of Cybertron.
Strangely enough, Praxian and Vosian have no distinctive similarities between them despite the two polities being right next ro each other.
Praxian wingspeech?
Despite the fact that all Praxians have doorwings, they do not have any kinetic language involving their doorwings much unlike Vosian wingspeech. In fact, flapping around one's doorwings willy-nilly is considered 'immature' in Praxian culture.
Regardless, Praxians can read wingspeech better than any other frametypes. They can even read courtyard wingspeech without much training, which is almost impossible for people from other places.
Unrelated stuff, but there is a phrase called "flying on Praxian wings". It roughly translates to "do something that is incredulously risky or downright stupid", or "bullshitting". It is one of the favorite phrases Vosians use, but for some reason Praxians also use this phrase a lot. Praxians aren't sure if they should consider this as a self-depreciation joke, because as we all know there's no such thing as a 'joke' in Praxus.
Velocitronian
Aside from that rich 1% asshats who thinks they're too cool to do that, 99% of other Velocitronians use this dialect.
Despite being a variant of Praxian, Velocitronian sounds much more 'colorful' and 'lively' than its original form. This is because Velocitronian had been influenced by Navitan over time.
Velocitronians talk faster than Praxian, and uses lots of descriptive words and abbreviations like Navitan.
To Praxians, Velocitronian sounds either charming or frivolous depending on the person.
This is the final part of the fan comic I made for this incredible fic! Please go give Polyhexian all the love on this wonderful fic and all their work. They're a super cool author and have many great stories. This is just one of my favorite bits they've written.
