Not liking the hints at the new direction of Siren AT ALL. 1st before I start, I’m gonna point out that I support trans rep & trans couples. That is not the problem. It’s dropping BADDIE like this that IS THE PROBLEM. They broke up only because Ben lied about letting Ian die/kept it from Maddie. But the ROMANCE & LOVE was still there. Ben and Maddie were already together in 1x01 (for at least two years I believe). They were already in love. Then Ryn entered BUT Baddie stayed together (besides a short break but clearly still loved each other) and both fell in love with her. That's was a huge aspect of Byrndie - They were love. ALL THREE LOVED EACH. So now suddenly Ben & Maddie don't love each other??? Ben's fine with Maddie moving on with another person that's not Ryn???? Yeah right. Not buying that at all. Ben was just jealous of Robb a few episodes ago now it’s gone?? There was no reason to break Byrndie/Polymarine like this. I didn't just ship them because they were a good poly rep. I also ship them because they were a good couple. All the of THEM together. I fell for their scenes. Just Ben/Ryn don’t do it for me. Robb could and should have gotten with someone else besides Maddie because her heart already belongs to Ben & Ryn. This forced break up is messing up the show. Ben, Maddie & Ryn had good stability. Now it’s off balanced and the dynamic is wrong. ALSO pushing the POC out of the principal couple – so cliché.

Also, to the BYRN fandom y’all do realize that Ryn went for MADDIE 1st, right?? Its definitely not just about Ben & Ryn. A few key examples:

Ryn kissed Maddie (when they were alone) before she kissed Ben.

Then she kissed Ben (after having a little hand holding moment with Maddie AND after watching Ben kiss Maddie).

Another main romantic Byrn moment Maddie was there when they ALL kissed/became a triad in 2x04

Next ep Ben and Maddie explained human mating to Ryn (in bed).

Then they ALL made love together.

Got outed as a poly couple to Ben’s parents together.

All 3 went to the secret mermaid special place TOGETHER.

In the AU S2 finale they were ALL gonna flee to Canada not just Ben & Ryn. Maddie was holding Ryn while she was sick. Ben & Ryn lost it when Maddie died. Which was also a deciding factor of Ben’s decision to not save Ian – it could/would lead to Maddie’s death.

All 3 together in an intimate relationship over the course of Meredith’s pregnancy.
