The name Polypa is clearly derived from "polyp", which sounds kind of gross, but since she uses poison as a weapon against seadwellers, it presumably means in the sense of a jellyfish polyp. The Goezee part is a bit worse. See, she uses a poison-coated knife specifically, and Albert Goozee was a British child molester and murderer, who used a knife to stab his landlady and her pubescent daughter to death when her husband tried to kick him out for having sex with both of them. This is absolutely intentional on the writers' part; every other offensive reference has been.
