oh, tumblr, you're alive? let's see if this works...
tumblr was down the entire evening, so i had no chance to post any updates. maybe that wasn't too bad, actually, as i took the time to write a few private messages to some of the people who made my haligonia so special, what i wanted to do anyways.
the cab is leaving in 5,5 hours.
everything is packed except for my thermal flask and a towel. i just need to shut down the computer in order to carry this brick of a macbook thousands of kilometers around the northern hemisphere. nevermind.
yes, i also finished the administrative nitty-gritty: laundry, dinner, packing my stuff, weighing the suitcase (19kg, sweet), weighing the backpack (8kg?! wtf! that's gonna by exciting at the baggage drop...), room check, giving away my kitchen stuff, throwing away all the rest. like my collection of coasts:
the final view of my pin board before tearing it down:
there was even time to say goodbye to my mexican grrrl S. and to spend some time in the kitchen, where literally every single person that walked into the room reacted to my hair - or rather, the absence of it. my dear south korean kitchen mate H. was pretty speechless, and when the K. said something and left, he translated: "oh, you are very brave, she said!". B., who i met on the 2nd floor, just couldn't stop laughing, and when i started to beat him (non-violence, sometimes, is not an option), he said: "no, no, it's sexy!" i had to beat him even harder.
but don't take his word for it:
oh well, that was the farewell from my birch 5 folks ;-) like S. puts it: "if i hadn't met any other austrian than you, i would say: all austrians a really crazy!"
however, i am still very glad that i didn't have my good bye happening on wednesday because i felt like in a bubble all day long. the walk in the afternoon helped me to get out of the sadness, and the busy-ness of the evening helped me to focus on tomorrow rather than yesterday. still weird to imagine not seeing all these new close people in a long, long time.
and now i guess it's time to move on.
(overused phrase, i know, but it just really hits the nail on the head right now.)
or for the very now, go to sleep.
and as in PolyPing, i will probably do some updates from miami as its part of my non-european travel experience, but i will shut down the newsticktacktimelinemicroblogotumbl(r)ing as soon as i'm back home.
thanks for sticking around.
