Tonight I got to witness an amazing ceremony called "Khayyam Khani" which resembles a freestyle call-and-response session, with the members of the crowd each jumping in on the rythm and singing out their own couple of verses they know from the great Persian poet Khayyam. "Khayyam Khani" which directly translates into "singing khayyam" is a unique ceremony from bushehr that involves a percussion, a flute/bagpip, with each member of the crowd joining in by clapping. South of Iran, which many say is the birthplace of bagpipe, and numerous genres of music, has always had fantastic bustling music scene. Ya'll better stay tued since what you see here is only ehat happened in the afternoon, what followed in the evening involved over 50 people, lots of chanting, tea, clapping and heat! #khayyam #Bushehr #Iran #Iranian #poetry #music #tribal #ethnomusicology #ethnic #polyrythmic #middleeast #groove #percussion #bagpipe #flute #misadventures #travel #travelogue #jonoobi #bandar #natgeo (at Bandar Bushehr, Bushehr, Iran)
