Michael didn't hide the fact he was puppy brained. Most fans noticed it but he didn't mind. As long as they didn't bother him, he was chill. He usually didn't let himself go fully into that headspace in public, only around the band. He trusted them completely and felt safe. Today was the day of the hot ones recording session. He was sat across from ashton, with luke on his left. He wasn't the best with spices so was hoping he wouldn't have to eat a lot. Everything was going normally, until his turn. He had to rank the solo albums. He chose to eat the wing, saying maybe its not gonna be that spicy. Boy was he wrong. He went numb and red almost instantly, already lowering his guard. The episode went on, when they brought out the pizza. And it was squeaky. Michael's face lit up so much that luke sneakily put a hand on his thigh to ground him. Michael instantly grabbed it with his teeth, proudly showing the camera, before passing to luke. He sadly watched it go around wanting to bite it more. Chew things in general. He moved his tongue over his teeth. Luke noticed, locking eyes.

"You okay?" He mouthed, and michael nodded. He has to stay under control. At least while other people are here. He wanted to shift so badly most of the remaining time, and was just trying to get it over with. He surprisingly won, and was ready to go. Calum reeled him back in to thank the crew members. Ashton chatted for a bit with one of them, michael getting more and more restless, holding hands with luke. They finally left after what felt like forever going into the car. Calum called shotgun, luke was driving. Michael got in the back with ashton, already tired, just wanting to go home. Luke put some music on, ashton on tiktok, calum already asleep. Michael stared out the window as the humming got louder and louder. Wanting to open the window and stick his head out. He brushed a hand through his hair. What a joy it would be to have ears. He got out of his trance hearing ashton chuckle. He moved closer to look, ash tilting the phone towards him. Michael didn't really find it that funny. He just wanted his cage and toys. To let go and have his dad's take care of him. They seemed so happy right now though. They didn't want to have to deal with michael he was sure. He just bothers them with his stupid mind all the time. Stupid stupid stupid. Luke noticed the tear roll down michaels cheek, pulling over and turning around in his seat.

"What's wrong?" He asked, and michael just shook his head, more tears threatening to fall. Calum was still sound asleep, while ashton gave michael his full attention.

"We're here for you," he said. Michael looked back and forth between them.

"Promise?" He whimpered.

"Promise, pup," ashton replied, the nickname being the last straw. Michael was in his headspace now, still tired. He struggled with his seatbelt, ash unbuckling him. He moved over to ashtons lap snuggling up to his chest. He wrapped his arms around Michael, resting his head on top of his. Luke questioned if it was okay to drive or if they should wait, but knowing how much rest michael usually gets they chose to drive just slowly.

michael groans when it slides all the way in and luke breathes out hard and presses on the base a little, just to see michael jump, before murmuring “fuckin-yeah, michael. good-good boy…” and it feels foreign on his tongue, usually he’s the one receiving that praise, but michael whines about it all the same <3
