who would you cast as Dís?

I don’t have a set fancast for Dís because frankly, I don’t care much for Dwarves. I mostly spend my time thinking about fancasts for Edain, and to a lesser extend, Elves.

I’ve seen several people cast Rachel Weisz and Olga Kurylenko. I don’t really see it, personally (Rachel has a Noldorin air about her while Olga is rocking the renowned Haladin amazon look, in my opinion) but those edits I’ve linked look great.

The fact that female Dwarves also have beards creates a bit of a problem. (And although people often fancast Dís as such, they aren’t really supposed to be lean or pretty by the standards of Elves and Men.) The beard causes a problem most especially for gifs. The only bearded female character in television I can think of is Kathy Bates as Ethel Darling in American Horror Story: Freakshow. If you want to stick to canon about the beard and the build, that is.

ETA: I also saw this post which looks like a decent fancast for Dís, though I don’t know the name of the actress. I just found out that the person on this post was Tatiana Maslany from Orphan Black and that character was a trans* man, thus it may be offensive to use her in such an edit. I had no idea, I apologise for my ignorance and any discomfort I may have caused you.
