My Pompei

They say the world darkens when a love one dies. Like pompei, the smoke and ash that blacken the skies. It hits you suddenly, burning your skin and soul. You knew it was coming but you didn't know the toll. Everything left shattered, pieces all around. The light and love I used to feel is buried in the ground. The wind blows the debris away, but underneath is just dismay. The Earth turns and spins again as if the world did not just end. I sit here in the crumbled remains, my life will never be the same.
