Spook Of The Day #148 • A ghost chicken haunts a London hotspot. Yes, you read that correct.
Highgate is one of the most famous destinations in London, with its graveyard full of famous people - and that vampire that wanders around, too.
But there is one spirit that champions all those who roam in the dead of the night...
Sir Francis Bacon was one of the first to propose and experiment with the concept of refrigeration. So, he took a chicken, and covered it/stuffed it with snow from Pond Square.
Bacon himself soon fell ill and died after this, but he wasn’t the one haunting London’s streets.
The chicken was. A clucking/screeching chicken noise and half plucked chicken is often seen running round the square.
