Les Quais de Seine, Paris ( 1950s).
Near the Cathedral Notre-Dame there is a bridge famously named Love Lock Bridge ; officially it is the Pont des Arts. This is where people put locks on the railings of this bridge to ‘seal’ their love for each other. The city officials have decided to take these keys down because they are posing a danger to the property of the city. Together the keys weigh 45 tonnes and might bring the railings down one day. For now it still stands. #Paris #PontdesArts https://www.instagram.com/p/CYK8ggtJeP1/?utm_medium=tumblr

Un weekend tout à fait parisien
View from Pont Neuf (meaning “new bridge”, build about 1600, which is now Paris’ oldest bridge) looking downstream over the famous river Seine towards the Pont des Arts. The latter is an iron pedestrian-only bridge constructed in the beginning of the 19th century. There is a ritual that lovers attach a pad lock (”love lock”) with their first names written or engraved on it to the railing of the Pont des Art and throw the key into the Seine, as a symbol for their everlasting love. Ironically, the railing became so heavy through the weight of the locks that it collapsed. Another hint from faith that nothing is forever. Nowadays tourists are encouraged by officials to take “selfies” instead of leaving love locks. Welcome to modern times! #pontneuf #pontdesarts #seine #paris #lovelock #nothingisforever #organicgardendreams (at Pont des Arts)
