Tourists waded through landmarks in Venice, Italy, this week as the historic city saw the highest tide in nearly a decade. Venice, which attracts about 20 million visitors each year, has long faced the pressures of rising sea levels along with unsustainable levels of tourism met by insufficient storm infrastructure – and higher tides caused by climate change have made Venice even more vulnerable to flooding than ever before. Il ponte di Rialto… Ci sarebbe da dire tanto anzi tantissimo, ma io ho pensato di rispolverare solo alcune curiosità: - Uno dei più famosi simboli di Venezia - Originariamente era in legno e oggi in pietra - Ospita 24 piccoli negozi per turisti su entrambi i lati - Uno dei ponti di Venezia più antichi ed era l’unico, fino alle metà del 1800, a permettere l’attraversamento del Canal Grande. Wasserwege: Venedig besitzt ungefähr 175 Kanäle mit einer Gesamtlänge von rund 38 km. Die Hauptverkehrsader ist der Canal Grande, dazu kommen viele Wasserwege außerhalb des historischen Zentrums. In der Stadt gibt es 398 Brücken.

Das Highlight aus touristischer Sicht sind natürlich die Gondoliere, die Besucher durch die engen Kanäle schippern. Sieht cool aus, wird aber wirklich ausschließlich von Touristen genutzt, da Einheimische ein Wassertaxi (Motorboot) nehmen würden.

Erkenntnis: in Venedig sollte man besser nichts aus der Hand essen - sonst kommen die Möwen und klauen das Essen im Vorbeifliegen!

Überraschung: Viele Leute tragen in Venedig bei über 30 Grad Socken und geschlossene Schuhe. Nachdem ich selbst seit ein paar Wochen in Sandalen herumlaufe, befremdet mich der winterliche Anblick sehr!
