I'm Going Poo-less!

been researching for awhile, been thinking about it a while but havent been ready for that plunge you know letting go of what you've been washing your hair with your whole entire life, to something that might not work out.. but this week i said hey what the heck lets give it a try and see if it works out.. and it does awesome i save money and if it doesn't then i just go back to what i know.. so today is 

DAY 1!: MADE MY STUFF.. WATER AND BAKING SODA, AND CONDITIONER OF VINEGAR AND WATER YES i used white vinegar cause its all i had and i didn't want to go to the store specially if it doesn't work.. 

my hair felt nice in the shower.. i will post pictures of it later.. but so far my hair is still on my head!! but we shall see how it progresses from here.. wish me luck on this new journey!

Day One of No Shampoo

So I've heard a lot about the "no-poo" movement and I decided to try it out for myself. I have very thin hair that gets greasy within one or two days of showering, so we'll see how this works...

Reasons for me going "pooless"

shampoo strips your hair of all its natural oils, while conditioner tries to artificially replace them. This results in your scalp overcompensating for the lack of oils, which is why your hair gets all gross in 1-2 days.

it saves a ton of money in the long run.

I am using the baking soda wash and apple cider vinegar conditioning rinse. I got most of my info about what to do and expect here. I use a baking soda paste, about 1 1/12 tbs if I had to guess, and 2 tbs of apple cider vinegar in a little less than 1 cup of water.

What I noticed right away:

my hair felt so clean

it's much shinier than usual

it feels a tiny bit dry

it's just as soft as if I'd used conditioner

my hair feels lighter than it usually does

there was a bit of a vinegar-y smell when I got out of the shower, but I spritzed on some body spray and that seemed to take care of it.

I am hoping to wash my hair again Sunday or Monday. Here's hoping it works!!

Got through the day pretty painlessly. Had my hair in a high ponytail all day, and honestly it looks less oily than this morning after taking it out. Not washing my hair this evening to see how the morning turns out. Have a wonderful evening!

Hi guys. My name is Moonshine, and I've decided to try to live my life a little cleaner, one step at a time. This blog will be dedicated to my first attempt at reducing waste- that is, my garbage! I'm going shampooless for 30 days, and using baking soda and ACV as substitutes. Curious to see how it goes? Me too!
