He studies her eyes for a moment then releases a breath. 

         “Is that your way of saying if I become inconvenient… you’ll fight me?”

Because people don’t ask questions like that out of nowhere. You don’t wonder about turning against someone unless you’ve already pictured it. Unless you’ve run the scenario through your head at least once. 

     It kind of stings.

           He looks away, turning his gaze outward. 

“I don’t know, doesn’t seem that complicated to me. Obviously, if you turn into someone I don’t recognize, I’ll drag you back and knock some sense into you.” A breath through his nose. A glance. “Or talk it into you. Whichever works.”

It’s not a joke. It’s also not what she asked either, so he does answer the question finally. 

“I won’t stand by if you hurt people. You already know that.” Quiet. Certain. “But I’m not interested in winning some ideological war. Especially not if it means losing someone I care about in the process.”

That’s something that never sat right with him about her father. The strength. The intelligence. The fact that there were a hundred other paths he could’ve taken—he chose the one that crushed everyone in his way. That broke people and crumbled relationships. Maybe because he didn’t value them. Maybe because it seemed the most efficient path. Or maybe, because sometimes people resent things they don’t have or can't grasp. 

      Ichigo’s eyes flick back to her. 

He doesn’t like it, but sometimes he sees those same tendencies in her. And again,  it stings.

       “But that goes both ways though,” he adds, softer now. “If I ever start looking like that… Like I’m heading somewhere I shouldn’t. I don’t expect you to just stand and watch.”

Akari is just staring at him & for once, it wasn't glaring. She may not have been aware of it, but it was excessive

       She stares at him a lot. Almost like it’s habit. He wonders sometimes if she’s even aware she’s doing it. 

It’s not the bold kind of looking. Not challenging. Not hostile. Not even covert in the way people get when they want something from you. It’s steadier than that. A quiet inspection. Like she’s taking inventory or waiting for something to change. Like she learned a long time ago that watching was the prequel to acting, and she’s jotting mental notes. 

Standing on the outside watching, because that’s where she’s always been. 

Only, he realizes now… he’s been staring back.  

               He looks away, huffs.

      “Hey. Come over here and stare from up close if you’re going to be rude.”

(Setsuna) Merely crying in fear while her father dutifully wasted away his life to protect hers, the forgers beloved little girl. Keh hee hee.. Tell me, have you come to enjoy the stench of death yet?

Actions have consequences as Hibiki was aware of what she did. Only wanting to protect the legacy from her father, it could be tarnished with blood already.

How many people she had killed? She can't remember their names but she's sure to herself that she has killed more than six as the blood of her face was just wiped off after decapitating Akari before using her substitute a day ago. She was her recent victim of number 7.

She knew Setsuna was there as he asked about something, she only smiled filled with malice and answered.

"I'm about to be familiar of what death looked like. It's natural on the other dying in battle right? Especially when one's life were involved." She's been itching to kill Setsuna but it may depend on this outcome.
