Oosawa manga chapter 54 is out! Watch out, Manfroy’s backstory appears!

First of all, we see randoms backing away from Lewyn because hey, that guy is scary. A bit like the randoms in the heroic Legend of Arslan when they realise they’re fighting Daryun.

But random!Granvalle officer has none of their cowardice and orders them to fight, and they die. TFW your commanding officer doesn’t know what a Crusader is.

Cue some Lewyn/Fury reunion and hm, kiss? Why not, but who’s here to ruin everything? Every time a couple is happy, he comes and destroys it, let it be his daughter's or Sigurd’s! Manfroy’s here and he is powerful enough to surprise Lewyn. He asks Fury to guard the entrance (or make sure no reinforcements come to disturb the show) but actually he wanted her to get out because she’d die, facing such a foe.

Okay.

And then, DRAMA INTENSIFIES

Deirdre REMEMBERS SIGURD AND SELIPH OH NO. AND SIGURD COMES AND BARGES IN AND KISSES HER AND WHAT THE FRICK IS GOING ON

EVERYTHING IS HAPPY BAR ALAIN and his “Deirdre you’re mine now”. Sigurd somehow knows Alain wants to bring back the Dark God Loptyr in the world again, to which Alain answers that Sigurd is prejudiced, is it because someone has that blood they are enemies to the Light?

Manfroy explains to Lewyn his tragic past, how he and his parents used to live in the basement of some Yied Monastery and how they told him as a kid not to get out of here, but he did and was burnt, just like his parents who went to search for him (but only Manfroy escaped).

End of the chapter!

Thoughts on the chapter : 

HAHAHA NO SERIOUSLY

Big positive point : 

Manfroy’s backstory. 

That guy has seen some shit - supposedly his parents too. The witch hunts were real and while we can never forgive what Manfroy did, we know where he comes from. His parents died because he wanted to see the outside world, against their wishes he got out of the Yied Shrine and everyone burnt, but he was the only survivor!

(maybe it’s the same reason Sara’s locked in various monasteries and can’t go out - she finds it boring so in the B route she escapes, hopefully Leif isn’t Augstrian and doesn’t burn her at stake).

Watermelon with stones point :

DRAMA - No but I was legitimately laughing at Deirdre and Sigurd’s reunion. That’s it it’s done Deirdre remembers everything we can go home now. She remembers Seliph, she remembers how she loves Sigurd and how he is her “one and only”. What is left for Alain? “you’re mine now” yeah, believe it. And Deirdre just wants Alain to return to his nice, kind and pleasant behaviour because right now he is not in his right mind (when have you ever been, Alain?). HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE YOU WERE KISSING THE MAN HE PLANNED TO EXECUTE WHILE HE IS YOUR HUSBAND

Is there any other way to make Alain suffer more? (maybe his puppy will die next chapter and he will be sad oh wait Azel’s already kind of dead he jumped from Dover-high cliffs). Now he sees his wife doesn’t really love him because Sigurd is back ! And somehow knows Alain is working with the Loptyr Sect!!! (he made the link with Sandima and Claude’s “light and evil” speech?)

And, my memory is foggy but is this the first time Alain mentions the Loptyr persecutions? Like, once Deirdre isn’t his end goal he suddenly starts to have other ideals? (maybe the ones Adèle follows when she says she wants to make sure Alain’s dream will be fulfilled?) All of a sudden Alain isn’t just a man led by romance or family but has a politcal agenda? Last Chapter Manfroy made him react saying he’ll lose Deirdre if Sigurd wins, not “your dream of a world without discriminations is never going to happen”.
