New headcanon

The reason Sherlock is wearing nothing but a sheet is because all of his clothes have rebelled after his gross mistreatment of his buttons. 

The buttons went on strike and the rest of his clothes followed suit to show their support, leaving him with nothing to wear but a sheet.
