Betty Boop, Poor Cinderella, 1934
Poor Cinderella (1934)
Poor Cinderella 1934 | dir. Dave Fleischer
In Wicked, if Glinda had succeeded in magically dressing Elphaba in a ballgown in "Popular," I somehow imagine that the transformation would have been like Betty Boop's in the cartoon Poor Cinderella.
Elphaba would have been magically stripped down to her underwear, which would have changed into lacier, more elegant, and much skimpier lingerie, and then the ballgown would have slowly formed on top of that.
And while I'm not the biggest Gelphie shipper, I'll admit, Glinda would have been flustered by this display in every sense of the word.

I'm just a Poor Cinderella, but I'll be a princess someday!
