Was just rewatching Upgrades and I've got to say, I love the character choice to have Daniel as the only one of the three not advocating for keeping the bands on.
Given his past addiction to the sarcophagus, he would be the one to take Janet's concerns about possible addiction to this new alien device the most seriously. It makes sense. He's been through it before; he knows how quickly using devices like these can spiral out of control. Sure, Sam and Jack know on some level about the dangers too. Nonetheless, they have scenes right after Janet warns them of the "narcotic-like effects" where they blatantly disregard her warnings and even explicitly say they don't want them off. But Daniel? The next scene he's in, he almost immediately says:
"You have to admit it's a little scary. I mean, I feel like I could do anything."
He's scared. He knows what addicting alien tech can do to a person, and (despite also inevitably acting/ being under the influence) he manages to see the downsides through the power and pleasure in a way Jack and Sam can't
It's just a nice bit of subtle continuity for his character that I'm glad they included
