If course he gets sick. The guilt fills him up, gnaws at him constantly so that he can't sleep, can't eat, can't relax for anything. He flinches like a beaten dog who will never expect anything other than cruel touch. The body can't stand up forever to that kind of stress - and Gavin wasn't that healthy to begin with. He has precious little body fat to loose when the fever sets in, the shakes start, and so on. If only Jack had been more insistent everyone get a flu shot.
Oh, he recovers. But the recovery is slow and filled with tense moments and long nights of restless sleep and persistently beeping IV pumps as bag after bag of normal saline is dripped into him to try to keep his blood pressure up, his temperature down, and his body still enough to give his immune system a chance to fight back. When his fever finally breaks and he opens his eyes with actual clarity and sight, Ryan almost breaks down and sobs.
(im assuming these two are together?)
But man talk about having the happiness ripped out from under you. They just get him back and then he’s sick and they nearly loose him again. That has to terrify them all. It’s a great thing they have such great connections to get him medicine he needs.
