Well... With all the people getting eaten you start getting slim pickings for things like doctors...
God he wanted to be anywhere but here. He looked at the large steel plate that would have been a window before The Outbreak but was now just another example of how inescapable this moment was. He couldn't freakout. There were so many other things happening right now and Kagome needed him to be focused and supportive and not freaking out about other things to the point of considering feeding himself to zombies.
So he swallowed to shocked lump in his throat and said nothing as Dr Kikyou Hidaka- his ex - introduced herself as the OBGYN who would be delivering their son.

I was just thinking....
Guys, Inuyasha was always so devastatingly lonely whenever Kagome left him and went home, even if it was just for a few days or to take a test.
He HATED when she wasn't by his side. That's why he always made a big stink about it.
And yet, still, he had moments when he'd force her to go home....because he would rather suffer in silence and make sure she was SAFE than to put her in danger for his own selfish reasons.
And just....
The magnitude of how much he loves and cares about her....to put her well-being above how much he wanted to always be by her side...after being alone for his whole life....
She brought him peace and love, and he was willing forego his happiness alongside her to ensure she was SAFE, PROTECTED, CARED FOR, AND ALIVE.
