“Something smells amazing- Mari?” Luka blinked owlishly at her as he emerged from his cabin. “What are you doing here?”
“We were making cookies,” she said, holding up one of the witch finger cookies she and Juleka had spent the afternoon making. “Didn’t you hear us?”
He shook his head. “I had my headphones on.” That made sense. He had just gotten new noise-cancelling headphones, ones he had been saving for for a while.
“So I guess the new headphones are good.”
“Yeah,” he said absently as he turned to frown at Juleka, who was piping a bit of red icing onto one of the cookies.
Juleka set down the piping bag and stuck the almond sliver into the icing, and looked up. “What?”
“You didn’t tell me Marinette was coming over.”
“Of course not; you always hog her.”
“I don’t-“
“Last week’s movie night.”
“We were sharing a blanket-“
“The other night when we were making dinner.”
“You’re always telling me I need to learn how to cook-“
“The video call from two days ago.”
“I was saying hi!”
“For two hours,” Juleka deadpanned. “This is officially girl time, now shoo.”
“But-“
“Shoo.”
He turned to her with a helpless and pleading look. She glanced at Juleka, then back to him and shrugged as she offered him an apologetic smile. “I did promise today would be girl time.” She pressed up onto her toes and gave him a quick peck before offering him a cookie.
“Betrayed by my own girlfriend!” he cried between bites of the cookie.
“You’ll live,” Juleka muttered.
“We’re still on for the movie tomorrow, though. Right?”
“Yeah.”
Juleka huffed. Loudly. When she turned to her friend, she found herself on the receiving end of an exasperated glare. Though it was mostly directed at Luka. “Girl time. Remember?”
“I’m going, I’m going!” he laughed as he swiped another cookie and dodged Juleka’s swatting hand.
“You two are the worst.” She turned back to face Juleka, an apology already tumbling past her lips when Juleka stopped her with a smile. “It’s nice to see you so happy. Him too. But don’t tell him I said that, or I’ll never hear the end of it.”
