My dad’s a physician and he HATES House, not because it’s inaccurate, but because of how poorly House treats his patients and staff. The few times we’ve had it on, my dad always leaves the room partway through, grumbling about how fast he would fire House lol

yeah i think that’s the biggest thing with it. like house’s whole personality is that he’s just SHIT with patients (and pretty much everyone else) but tbh there really are people like that in the medical field. absolute GENIUSES that just have no idea what it’s like to interact with another human. house should have been a surgeon, tbh

I loved this when I was little! Something about the lighting makes Mickey look so... idk, touchable?

FUN FACT: THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT THING CONTEMPLATED IN MICKEY’S (AND LATE OSWALD’S) DESIGN FROM EARLY ON. 

I’m gonna quote The Walt Disney Film Archives, because it’s actually very interesting: 

Oswald’s ears looked like baseball bats, often detachable, that could stiffen or droop as the situation required. But his most important quality was his soft pliability. Writing about Mickey Mouse, Maurice Sendak described the “license to touch” that Mickey inspires in children. This became the quality that, above all, distinguished Oswald from his predecessors and his contemporaries. When Oswald’s body is twisted, stretched, or tweaked, Oswald hurts. His mouth opens wide, his eyes roll or squint, his face squeezes. When he is tickled, he giggles. He is, like his predecessors, made up of crazy parts that will bend and detach, but the crucial distinction is that he responds to physical stimuli in humanly recognizable ways. 

This was later not only used but developed in Mickey, where he became less and less like a typical cartoon of the early 20s with whacky physics and anatomy and more like an actual approachable character with more human-like responses and his body design and approach made it possible for kids to feel like Mickey could very well be real and also round shapes that made him approachable and safe. 

This is a very long comment but it’s great how we instinctually as kids responded to this “touchable” quality of Mickey without knowing how difficult it was to achieve and how important it was for the character. It’s difficult nowadays to see this “touchable” quality as something super strange, because we’re used to animation that has done amazing things, but remember that the standard for cartoons at the time was stuff like Felix the Cat. That’s why Snow White was such a fucking miracle of animation too, but that’s another subject for another time.

yeah I haven't seen any of my posts flagged and I don't have time to go through them.

It’s impossible. Back when the whole music massive DMCA issue happened and people started getting their audios removed, tumblr sent you emails which you could respond asking them to provide links to know what the fuck they were talking about in order to know what specific content they wanted you to remove, because the DMCA complaints were erroneously filed (they were all from the same “guy” and they named albums or artists which didn’t match the audio that was supposedly being flagged). Afterwards, it just stopped for some reason and nobody spoke of it ever again. I got one of those for a song I had uploaded ages ago but not for others and after I removed that one everything went back to normal and I didn’t get kicked out so idk.

Theoretically, tumblr is supposed to email u about it. in reality ppl are mostly finding out by other ppl seeing ''this reblog has been flagged'' and then telling the OP

Yeah, I didn’t get a single notification or email about the only one I found, which I did because @poorlifedecisionsemily told me (it was a gifset I made for her birthday containing Riza Hawkeye’s back, which supposedly should be permitted under their ridiculous rules but, considering there was art flagged as inappropriate, like literal paintings from centuries ago, and when people asked staff to review them they STILL were considered inappropriate, I chose to delete it for now). 

I’m honestly not willing to exhaustively check everything, I’m gonna just see how things go and roll with it, but I was curious because I saw so many people saying “I checked all my posts” and I’m like “damn how???”
