the whole design situation is petty as shit lol but its funny to watch
absolutely bonkers how the amino economy has fucked with us by making everything so cheap that we forget art is a luxury and people can spend more than 200 fake currency on it
it's funny how people always worry about art style on WA when that's not really what makes your art better in the first place
Having a good grasp on color theory, anatomy, and shading is going to make you a better artist, not how cute or appealing your art style is. Don't get me wrong, that sort of thing can help you gain recognition, but learning at least a little of the basics of art as a whole is going to help you improve more than studying art styles would.
just something I've thought about because I see such a huge emphasis on art style when that's not really what helps you improve, if that makes any sorta sense
Wait is there even much debate about the recent bans? There wasn't much on here and I haven't really used WA itself much
to be honest the commissions I've gotten outside of amino have been so much less stressful and more enjoyable than the vast majority of things I've done on WA
Style theft isn't real. Just gonna put it as plainly as that. What people *are* doing when they copy another artist's style is heavily referencing it, which is a bad thing. It's fine to reference artists/photos/whatever, but you have to be able to also add your own spin to it and do it in your own way.
Heavily referencing to the point where you're essentially duplicating another artist is a bad thing, and that's what you shouldn't be doing. It's fine to take something from another artist as inspiration, but at the end of the day you should be trying to be original.
(to be honest you really shouldn't be learning how to draw solely by just looking at other artists and taking aspects of their styles, but that's a whole separate tangent i don't particularly feel like going on at the moment)
the last time I came to check on this blog I ended up spending an hour or so looking at a completely different tumblr blog i follow, but this time around I was fortunate to find out about WA being piss colored, nice.
