Poppy & Thane // See the world in a grain of sand
The heel of his shoe clacked against the sidewalk as zig zagged between the curb and the rode, gaining and losing two inches with each step. Hands tucked themselves away in the pockets of his jacket, sunglasses hung on the bridge of his nose as he kept his gaze low. Today was a new day, he told himself, today was the day when you'd get your shit together...so to speak. The first step to his rehabilitation and reintroduction into the world? A good baseline. Thane needed a foundation. A job. Something to do other than bum around drinking and sleeping in a dirty alley. There wasn't much he could do, he didn't have a lot of work experience; or any, if you didn't count mowing lawns and shoveling driveways as work. He wasn't educated, barely scraping through high school before being put away. There wasn't much he could do. On the inside he was focused on surviving. Surviving among others, surviving his own thoughts. He read, exercised and took walks around the permitter when allowed outside. He'd had a job in the beginning, stirring soup, if you could call it soup, but the influx of people in the prison left him lazying about. He could probably manage something or other at the bar, roughing people up if they got too rowdy but seeing as he was trying to wean himself off the whiskey and rum and vodka...His throat grew dry with his thoughts. Yeah, it was probably best he stay away from there. He needed to do something. Keep himself busy. Physical labor. Physical labor that didn't require prerequisites. Sure, yeah. That was possible.
Middle finger rose up to push the sunglasses up and his eyebrows raised as he read the sign.
Poppy's Stems
He started away, getting a good ten feet between him and the shop before turning on his heel and taking steps until he was inside. Eyes darted around, hand coming up to smooth out his hair in hopes of becoming more presentable. Fingers fidgeted in and out of fist formation and soon rested, after a quick tap against his thighs. Thane found himself looking at a bustle of brown hair and big blue eyes. He opened his mouth, but for a moment found himself at a loss for words. What was he supposed to say? Hire me because I could really use the money, sorry I killed a dude promise I wont kill you.
"Hello." Well, that was a start.
