Alright it’s 11:15 a.m. MST, Dec. 17, 2021, which means the Studio Killers 404 pilot has dropped, and people have had time to watch it. Here are my initial thoughts.

Things I Felt Needed Work:

the anti-piracy part came off preachy to me. I understand having it (establishing the conflict between Cherry and this particular Jeff, allowing the creative team to vent, giving the story relatability factor to the creatives watching it), but I feel they could’ve cut it down a bit; and,

the opening scene was a bit abrupt. I know it was supposed to be (as the band don’t understand what’s going on, either), but it might have helped to have a couple of still shots that further imply what lead up to the band landing on the ship, for narrative fluidity’s sake.

Things I Loved:

“Soft Bitch” works so well as a soundtrack piece. Idk if I would’ve chosen it for the theme song, but it definitely works with the story;

the characters!

MRS. PANKAKKA-POW. She's amazing. I have no clue what she's saying. She's unhinged. I love her;

Pornica has such a presence;

Goldie Foxx my beloved;

I like that the destruction of Planet Jeff is given the gravitas it deserves—yes, it’s a plant of assholes; no, its inhabitants did not all (barring Jeff) deserve to die;

Cherry's henshin sequence is gorgeous; and,

the style shifts in the episode are remarkable.

Overall, I loved it. I really hope a network picks it up for a full run. I need more of this.
