Show Pony—Blue Model D-74-83755—was from a line of the extremely short-lived Disco themed companion droids from 1975, which were taken off the market after a four-month stint which was never released outside the contiguous United States.
Unlike the newer models, the first companion droids focused on customizability and diverse designs, rather than the generic general appeal of the same-face models produced in the 2010s. They have less facial emotive capabilities than the newer models, however; transitions between expressions aren’t as smooth. Early models also have acrylic hair attached straight to the scalp, rather than softer, removable wigs. Early droids have longer battery life, instead of the planned obsolescence & frequent upgrades that newer models require. Software and programming capabilities remain largely the same; older droids are just as aware and alive as the new ones.
