A portable turbidity meter is a handheld instrument used to measure the turbidity of a liquid, typically water. Turbidity is a measure of the cloudiness or haziness of a fluid caused by the presence of suspended particles, such as sediment, silt, and organic matter. It is an important parameter in environmental monitoring, water quality assessment, and various industrial applications.
Portable turbidity meters operate based on the principle of light scattering. They shine a light source (usually a LED) through a water sample, and a detector measures the amount of light scattered by the suspended particles in the water. The level of turbidity is then calculated based on the intensity of scattered light.
