1. This portrait was taken in the studio and was quite difficult sit was my first time doing portraiture alone without any help from my lecture. I told my model Mike to wear a bright colour ad was very pleased when he wore a bright orange Adidas jacket to the studio. I wanted to make the photo seem moody and feel it worked well using a black background and I lowered the soft box so that it was Mike’s entire body being exposed to all the light, making black background appear sinister.
2. This portrait was also done using the studio and I was experimenting with how light can change the way a person looks, drastically. I made sure this side lighting was bold but still subtle to the rest of the head and body. I really adore this image as it seems really peaceful just looking at the model. When adding the finishing touches to the image in photoshop, I used the dodge tool o lighten the eyes to allow them to stand out more.
3. This is my favourite still life I have done for a while as I love how romantic and elegant the bottle looks with the roses placed behind it. To do this, I placed a blue background on the floor and then placed a bundle of rose petals on top of the paper. After this I then balanced a small slate of glass on top of two small remotes so that the glass was lifted above the rose petals slightly. I then placed my perfume bottle on top and adjusted the light as much as possible to prevent the glass from being too shiny.
4. This was taken on a photoshoot for the Paisley Fireworks display last year and I made sure my shutter speed was slower than 100th of a second and just experimented until I liked the result. I adore this image as I have never seen anything like it before. To me it shows a much more unique take on photographing fireworks.
5. For this image I attempted to make a more abstract piece, so I went to Botanic Gardens and took a look around for patterns and good lighting and I found the white dome found in the middle of the botanic gardens. The sun was brilliant during this day and I was so lucky to be able to take well exposed photos.
6. The one thing I was most excited for during this course was to experiment with continuous light using traffic on either the motorway or in the street. It took almost an hour to wait for the perfect moment and time to the continuous light images as you have to wait for twilight for the sky to be a perfect colour to show off the lights. I love the long beams of red lights and a funny thing about this photo is how all the traffic lights are all lit up.
