We've been paying to have them assault our neighbors and fellow citizens. And people find broken windows, a few small fires, and graffiti more upsetting than that?
Hell, I bet the medical bills for just Donavan La Bella alone -- the unarmed protester shot in the face on July 11 by an as-yet-unidentified (and uncharged) U.S. Marshal, and gifted with a fractured skull and damaged frontal lobe of his brain -- have run to more dollars than ALL the "destruction" by fires, graffiti, and broken windows committed by protesters.Some of them have gone to jail. Many are facing criminal charges.Why hasn't the man who shot a fellow U.S. citizen in the head and caused permanent physical damage been identified, or apparently charged with a crime? I found a news report from two days after the shooting that said "The U.S. Marshals Service says it will soon provide more information, including whether or not the agent who fired the shot is on leave."But in the two months since, I have seen no sign it has done so.
Why don't more people regard justice for La Bella -- never mind George Floyd and all the other Black Americans who were the initial focus of the protests -- of greater concern than vandalism to stone walls and concrete sidewalks, signs, windows, chairs, and desks?
